In
furtherance of the drive to broaden the
ownership structure of the “Lift
Liberia” agenda, and into increase
transparency in the implementation of
the PRS, the Ministry of Planning and
Economic Affairs officially launched
“Lift Liberia” website along with the
tracking tool used to monitor PRS
implementation.
Following a successful Cabinet retreat that
reviewed the entire implementation process of
the PRS and designed new strategies to
accelerate implementation, it has become
necessary, though overdue, to involve the
Liberian people in the process of implementing
and monitoring the PRS. The Cabinet retreat
ended with each Minister and Heads of Agencies
committing to robust plans to be implemented in
the next 90 days which ended November 30, 2009.
In order to demonstrate true commitment and
transparency, the Liberia Reconstruction and
Development Committee (LRDC) at the Ministry of
Planning launched the website that will provide
critical information on the implementation of
the “Lift Liberia” agenda. Besides, the PRS
Deliverables Tracking Tool has been made
available to the public so that they too can
track progress being made.
The Ministry of Planning is aware that this is a
new standard in Liberia’s development history
and is unafraid of committing to such a
standard. It is time for the Liberian people to
know exactly what their government is doing. The
more informed the people are, the better they
are able are contribute to national development.
The “Lift Liberia” website will provide much
needed information about the PRS activities to
Liberians wherever they reside as well as our
development partners and academics. Liberians
and friends of Liberia will be able to monitor,
in an unhindered way, the implementation of the
“Lift Liberia” agenda and also provide feedbacks
to move the agenda forward.
