A Message For Mandingo Unity: Respect Your Leaders

Ladies and Gentlemen of this noble community of ours, I urge you once again to take a moment out of your busy schedules and ask yourselves these few questions:

Why don't we appreciate our Leaders regardless of their achievements? Does Hypocrisy and petty Jealousy help or hurt our Community? Where are we headed?

If we can find an honest answer to any of the above questions, then we will be able to eradicate most of the ills in our community.

First, we need to desist from the habits of spreading misinformation and making ungrateful comments about our leaders under the pretext of the so-called "Democracy or Free Speech."

These behaviors have never been and will never be helpful to our community that we all endeared. The perfect example is our Noble Man, ALHAJ G.V. KROMAH.

Mr. Kromah and his Gallant Men and Women put their lives and everything they had within their arsenals on the line simply to defend and protect our only Identity as Liberian Mandingos.

Today, the larger Liberian Mandingo Community enjoys the fruits of their commitment, courage, perseverance and gallantry! Yet, some of us remain adamant to appreciate their Sacrifices.

HYPOCRISY IN OUR COMMUNITY

Another example is the level of Hypocrisies within our various Mandingo Organizations, here in the U.S.A. Why should we elect people as our Leaders and distrust them? Why should we entrust people with our Leadership and disrespect them?

Well, I think these two simple questions remain unanswered because, when we select /elect people to lead us, we’ll be the same people to undermine their efforts by not giving them the chance to prove their expertise, because of our chronic hypocrisy and petty jealousy.

In this case, I believe those leaders will walk away from our community when they are no longer in power, because, "they believe they've given everything they could to their community and they were only rewarded with bunch of unreasonable criticisms and ingratitude".

Consequently, it becomes what they call "a NO WIN SITUATION". Plus or minus makes no significant difference, so to speak.

There are hundreds of reasons that make them reluctant to be fully involved in the community. One is, "they feel that they have less to offer to the Community."

Brothers and Sisters, let's learn to appreciate our Leaders even if we disagreed. We must acknowledge the fact that we do have more in common, than we don't. And remember that "Allah loves those who appreciate”

If we can't appreciate each other, how are we going to appreciate Allah, who created us and made us Muslims? And to him, we all shall return.

I strongly advice that we should criticize for these simple reasons:  we should criticize only when we have solution or solutions; we should be objective in our criticisms; our criticisms shouldn't be base on sentiments; it must be in line with the aims and objectives of our community.

Criticisms shouldn't be a tool for distraction and distortion or a means of gaining popularity for our selfish and Political ambitions. To our community Leaders, we know that community service is non-profitable and it is a huge task to perform. It requires enormous commitment, dedication and patience.

It is not in our Interests to see this community going backwards. Please bear with us as we remain restless and relentless to curtail some of the ills in our community that we all love dearly.

And I hope that the Month of Ramadan will serve as guidance for all of us and help us to open our sense of reasoning and also repent from some of our misdeeds. Ameen

May Peace and blessings of Allah be upon us all.
