Declaration of Candidacy
Elders, clergymen, comrades, distinguished ladies and
gentlemen.
I am pleased to declare my candidacy. I do so with a
heavy heart and a deep sense of hope. I say heavy heart
because of the overwhelming ills of our community. A
deep sense of hope because there are individuals among
us who are determined to make a difference.
Right now our country and community are consumed by a
complex web of inter-related social issues that require
a qualitative, bold vision and proven leadership, a
leader with intellectual curiosity. The moral fabric of
our country and community has been threatened, if not
destroyed. Concerns for community and compassions for
fellow human beings have been replaced with greed,
hatred, gross injustice, distrust, corruption,
desperation and general loss of civility and decorum in
inter-personal and social behaviors.
The fundamental pillar that held us together throughout
the years has been threatened due to these ills in our
community. The only sustainable formula that could
possibly put us together is UNITY.
What kind of unity am I talking about? Definitely not
the kind that leads to the security of a particular
ethnic group, but the kind that will lift our
communities and nation from the quicksand of ethnic
hatred, to the solid rock of sustainable peace and
unity; the kinds that make life in a country worth
living; the kind that enables individuals and ethnic
groups to grow, to hope and to build a better life for
their children.
My attempt to find possible solutions for some of these
ills is the biggest motivation for me to enter this
race. If you give me the opportunity to serve as your
vice president for Administration, I will uphold, defend
and protect the constitution of FELMAUSA to the best of
my ability.
Please accept, ladies and gentlemen, the expression of
my highest respect.
Respectfully,
Campaign to elect Mohammed S. Kromah as Vice President
Administration
