President Richmond Mohammed Konneh has announced Wednesday afternoon that he would not be contesting his position in the ensuing elections at the national convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the second executive from the current administration to drop the quest for re-election.
On
Monday,
the Vice
President
for
Administration,
Mrs.
Mameita
Jabateh-Sirleaf
made a
courageous
move
when she
declared
that she
would
not
stand
for
re-election.
According
to a
Press
statement
from his
office,
the hard
working
community
leader
says he
was not
contesting
re-election
for
personal
reasons.
However,
President
Konneh
said he
would
stay on
to see
the
election
through
and
would be
available
at the
convention
to
provide
any
assistance
to
whoever
that
emerges
as the
new
leader.
President
Konneh
believes
he gives
his best
to the
community
for the
past two
years
and he
remains
thankful
to the
community
for the
support
and
confidence
reposed
in him.
When
contacted,
the
out-spoken
community
leader
confirmed
his
decision
not to
stand
for
re-election.
He told

news, “I
am happy
that my
commitment
to the
cause of
our
people
is
unwavering
and I
will
always
be there
to lend
my
support
to any
action
that
will
carry
the
community
forward.”
The
outgoing

for the
last two
years.
He paid
special
homage
to the

fathers
of
FELMAUSA
for
crafting
this
progressive
movement
of our
time.
Pres.
Konneh
portrays
the

as
geniuses.
He also
remains
very
optimistic
that the

that
started
the
Federation
should
not
perish.
President
Konneh
noted
that the
journey
has just
begun
and that
he is
sure
others
will
continue
from
where he
stopped.
“Let us
do
everything
we can
to
protect
the
institution
for it
is
through
an
institutional
approach
that we
can
address
for
empowerment
and
capacity
building,”
said the
out-spoken
leader.
“May God
bless
the
Mandingo
community
and our
nation,”
