Imam Mohammed Baba Sheriff to Deliver the Invocation at the Mandingo Convention

Thursday, July 3, 2008  FELMAUSA Press Releases

Imam Mohammed B. Sherif

In response to several articles on LIMANY website with regard to Br. Mohammed Dukuly performing the invocation during the Mandingo Convention in Philadelphia this weekend, and given the sensitive nature of the issues being raised, Br. Dukuly has decided to step aside to let somebody else perform that task.

According to Br. Dukuly, he does not want this to cause any further distraction that will overshadow the success of the convention. In place of Br. Dukuly, Br. Mohamed Baba Sheriff has agreed to deliver the invocation. Br. Sherif who is a graduate of the University of Liberia with degree in Mass Communication as well as law degree from the Lewis Arthur Grant School Law, is an Imam at the African and American Islamic Center in Philadelphia.

Contrary to the misleading propaganda on LIMNY website, FELMAUSA will not be honoring anybody during this convention. This is a convention, a forum where honest differences of views will be presented and debated. This is not an occasion only for pomp and pageantry. But we are not surprised at Limany website for carrying those misleading propagandas. Since the birth of Felmausa the web masters of Limany have only carried such negative propagandas against our collective interests. But we know that the majority of Limany members are in line with the objectives of Felmausa and they have communicated that to us.

The question we have for the few people who continue to use the Limany websites to create havoc in our community is “When are we going to exorcise the evil demons of mischief and confusion and focus on the endless possibilities Mandingo unity will bring to our people?”

In their actions, we can only see envy, jealousy and hypocrisy. These few elements are not interested in seeing our people together.

After many failed attempts to form a unified Mandingo federation, why can’t we embrace FELMAUSA and unite our collective potentials and resources to form a new and productive future for our people? In so doing, we shall effectively contribute to the well-being of our people in Liberia who are still struggling to put their lives back on track after the 14-year civil war.

FELMAUSA has many lofty goals that can be achieved if we stand together. We cannot afford to divide ourselves into warring parties against each other. We do not see any pleasure in doing so. That’s why we have continued to engage everyone in our community, even those who disagree with us. We are absolutely confident that the Mandingo unity will be achieve unity and progress despite the negative efforts of some elements to derail our forward march. God willing we will prevail.
