Vice President for Operations 

Amara Solomon Kamara was born and raised in Zorzor, Lofa County Liberia. He is a registered and committed member of the Minnesota Mandingo Association. He has served this organization in many capacities as a leader and role model to the youth of his community.  Amara is a consensus builder and fund raiser, who enjoys hard work, volunteering and devoting his time to his community,

Currently he serve on 2 other boards:  The Dandies Project- An initiative founded 2 years ago in Minneapolis whose goals are to highlight the positive influence and impact that men of color have in their communities, starting with a strong sense of individuality through personal self-awareness and expression.

As Board member of Masjid Al-Ansar community Center in Brooklyn Center, MN, he recently got selected as Chief Administrator to carry on the day to day operation/affairs of the Masjid.

Community involvement is critical to Amara.

A graduate of Tulane University, Amara is an award winning exercise physiologist and considered one of the best trainers in the Twin Cities.  He is founder and owner of PILLARS ATHELTICS TRAINING one of Twin Cities top personal and athletics training firms. He has been featured in many athletics magazines for his knowledge and results in physical transformations.

Related volunteer qualifications that support his current elected position in serving as the Vice President of Operation (VPO) for the Federation of the Liberian Mandingo Association of the United States of America (FELMAUSA),  include over a decade of experience serving in various capacities for the FELMAUSA most recently as:

  • Social Committee chair from 2011-2015 and National Coordinator of FELMUSA 2015 upcoming convention in Dallas, Texas.  He served in these roles in 2014 as well.  Amara’s role as the Social Committee chair for the organization since his arrival has held the organization at a higher standard, increasing the value of that committee to a level that has not been realized before.
  • In 2013, he served as Chair for the  Presidential Inauguration of FELMUSA
  • In 2012, he served as the National Chair of the federation annual conventions, raising $30 000 for the federation.
  • In 2005-2007, Amara was the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Organization of the Liberian in Minnesota (OLM). Amara era in OLM will be remembered in OLM history. He organized the first successful county meets in OLM, generating enough money of a little more than $15,000 for the organization, and this was done annually. He also introduced the 6 nation’s tournament that brought together GHANA, TOGO, NIGERIA, GUINEA, SIERRA LEONE and LIBERIA to climax the Liberian independent day celebration.

Amara’s other interests including modeling, acting and supporting youth.  Recently, the North Minneapolis urban community recognized him with the best role model award for the youth.

When you meet Amara, you feel his energy instantly and his motivation shines through.  Amara is a man of integrity and has made such a difference in my life.  He has shown me what commitment and hard work can create.

Amara lives with his wife, Tenin and his two children Mamayan, and Abraham in Maple Grove, Minnesota
