Amara is an award winning exercise physiologist and considered one of the best trainers in the Twin Cities. Amara made the list in the men’s health in 2005, ranking number 67, as top 100 best trainers in America. He is a founder and owner of PILLARS ATHELTICS TRAINING one of Twin Cities top personal and athletics training firms. He has been featured in many athletics magazines for his knowledge and results in physical transformations. Amara Sulaiman Kamara was born in Zorzor and partly raised in Salayea, all in Lofa County, Liberia. He is a registered and committed member of the Minnesota Mandingo Association. He has served this organization in many capacities as a leader and role model to the youth of his community. Amara is a consensus builder and fund raiser, who enjoys hard work, volunteering and devoting his time to his community.
Amara serve in several positions in his community with different community organization. Currently he is the head of an upcoming urban non-profit organization called The Dandies Project- An initiative founded 4 years ago by Richard Moody in Minneapolis, who goals are to highlight the positive influence and impact that men of color have in their community, starting with a strong sense of individuality through personal self-awareness and expression. A board member of Masjid Al-Ansar community Center in Brooklyn Center, MN. He recently got selected as Chief Administrator to carry on the day to day operation/affairs of the Masjid. He is also the current Vice president of Operation of the Federation of the Liberian Manding
Related past volunteer qualifications that support Amara as a community servant include over a decade of experience serving in various capacities, starting from Conakry, Guinea.
•Amara organized the one and only basketball tournament in Conakry that brought together refugees and Guineans in a good working relationship in 1992. This relationship led to the hiring of several athletes from Liberia to play at a first division level, including himself that started playing for Kaloum Star.
• In 2005-2007, Amara was the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Organization of the Liberian in Minnesota (OLM). Amara organized the first successful county meets in OLM, generating enough money of a little more than $15,000 for the organization, and this was done 2 years in a row. He also introduced the first and only 6 nation’s tournament that brought together GHANA, TOGO, NIGERIA, GUINEA, SIERRA LEONE and LIBERIA to climax the Liberian independent day celebration.
•FeLMAUSA Social Committee chair from 2011-2015 and he served as National Coordinator of FELMUSA 2015 convention in Dallas, Texas. Amara’s role as social chair for the organization since his arrival, has held the organization at a higher standard, increasing the value of that committee to whole new level.
•In 2013, he served as Chair for the Presidential Inauguration of FeLMAUSA former president Bangaly Trawally in Minnesota.
Recently, the North Minneapolis urban community recognized him with the best role model award for the youth.
