After two months of robust preparation by the Inaugural and Transitional team, FELMAUSA yesterday witnessed the best inaugural event in the nine-year history of the young federation, as the newly elected corps of officers, who were massively voted for at the Federation’s Convention in Dallas, Texas, on September 6, 2015 were officially inducted into office in Phoenix, Arizona, by the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Cocoa Cola World Wide, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.
Mr. Cummings who played double role at yesterday’s ceremony, serving both as the Installing and Keynote Speaker cautioned FELMAUSANS in particular and all Liberians in general to remain steadfast and resolute in forging the harmonious peace and tranquility that the community and Country have had for almost decade, and encouraged all Liberians to do whatever they can from their vintage point to ensure that continues. He emphasized the need for all Liberians to promote common identity that will foster peace, and security, which would ultimately result to a vibrant and stable democracy.
The Induction Ceremony was overwhelmingly attended by several hundred FELMAUSANS from the spectrum of these United States, led by the FELMAUSA representative Organization in Arizona, the Liberian Mandingo Association of Arizona, under the able leadership of Mr. Vakaba Sesay, who also served as Chairman of the Transition Team. The Program was also attended by dignitaries from the Liberian Association of Arizona, the Gambian Association of Arizona, the Sierra Leoneans Association of Arizona, and the City of Arizona.
The Induction Ceremony which also included a fund raising program intended to generate scholarship for 100 Liberian students at the University of Liberia, and other Universities in Liberia, received $5200 in pledges mainly from the newly elected corps of officers of the Executive Committee led by President Sekou Kenneh, and the most powerful Board of Directors Chairman, Mr. Sekou Fofana of New Jersey. The amount also included a $1000 pledge from Honorable Mariamu B. Fofana, District#4 Representative of Lofa County Liberia, who is said to have promised to promote Liberia empowerment through education.
The night was climaxed with the Inaugural Address by President Sekou Morris Kenneh, who thanked the FELMAUSAN Community for entrusting him and his newly inducted Administration with the responsibility of steering the Affairs of States, and promised to effectuate meaningful changes in the Association by aligning the Association’s goals and objectives to its core mission of empowering the Liberian Mandingo Community through education. He called on all FELMAUSANS to unite behind his Administration for the common good of the Federation.
Mr. Kenneh thanked the outgoing Administration led by Honorable Bangalee Trawally for keeping the Association in tact despite numerous challenges that have engulfed the Federation, and called on all previous members of the outgoing Administration to join the new Administration in maintaining the relative peace and tranquility enjoyed by the Federation.
